Proof for iPhone

Privacy Policy

Last updated July 13, 2026

Proof is built for writing you may not want anywhere else. This policy explains what stays on your iPhone, what third-party services receive, and what changes when you choose to share something.

The short version

Proof does not require an account. Your beliefs, revisions, proof entries, and feed choices are stored on your iPhone. The app has no ads and does not sell your data. RevenueCat receives limited technical and purchase information so subscriptions can work. Your written beliefs and proof are not sent to RevenueCat.

Information stored on your iPhone

Proof stores the information you create and the settings you choose:

  • belief statements and their revisions;
  • proof entries, dates, and believability ratings;
  • your reactions to beliefs in the feed;
  • reminder time and widget privacy settings; and
  • a limited widget snapshot used to show your current belief.

This information uses Apple's local storage systems. Proof does not currently use iCloud sync or a custom cloud database. Depending on your iPhone backup settings, Apple may include app data in a device backup. Apple controls those backups under its own terms and privacy policy.

Rewriting beliefs

On supported devices, Proof can use Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework to suggest new wording. The app also has a guided rewrite that works without a model. Proof does not send your authored text to a server operated by JPM Inc., and it does not keep a remote transcript of your writing.

Subscriptions and RevenueCat

Proof uses Apple's App Store for billing and RevenueCat to check whether Proof Premium is active. RevenueCat creates an anonymous app user identifier and may process purchase history, subscription status, app and device details, IP address, and related diagnostic information needed to provide the subscription service. Proof does not give RevenueCat your beliefs or proof entries.

Apple and RevenueCat handle this information under their own policies:

Widgets and reminders

Widgets read a small file in a private App Group shared by Proof and its widget extension. You can hide your belief in widgets; when hidden, the widget shows a neutral prompt instead. Daily reminders are local iPhone notifications. Their previews do not contain your belief or proof text.

Sharing

Sharing is optional. Proof creates the image or video on your device and shows you a preview first. Once you use the iOS share sheet, the service or person you choose receives what you send. Their privacy practices apply after the content leaves Proof.

Deleting your data

In Proof, open Settings and choose Delete all Proof data. This removes your authored records, reminders, and widget content from the iPhone. It does not cancel a subscription or erase purchase records kept by Apple or RevenueCat. Removing the app also removes its local data, although an existing Apple device backup may remain until Apple deletes or replaces it under your backup settings.

Website visits and support email

This policy is hosted on jamesmckinney.xyz. The website may use Google Analytics to collect basic browser, device, and visit information when analytics is enabled. Google explains how it handles that information in its Privacy Policy. If you email for support, the email address, message, and anything you attach will be received and used to answer you. Please do not include private belief or proof text unless it is necessary to explain the problem.

Children

Proof is not directed to children under 13, and JPM Inc. does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the app.

Changes to this policy

If Proof's data practices change, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. A material change may also be explained in the app or its App Store listing.
